Binder Jetting 3D Printing

Binder Jetting 3D Printing Materials

Binder Jetting (BJ) is a powder-bed additive manufacturing technology that uses inkjet printheads to selectively deposit liquid binder onto powder materials (metal, ceramic, sand, etc.) to form 3D parts layer by layer. It features high printing speed (5-10x faster than SLM), no need for support structures (loose powder acts as natural support), excellent color capability (full-color printing via dyed binder), wide material compatibility, and low equipment cost. Post-processing (sintering/infiltration) is required to enhance part density and strength. Ideal for full-color prototypes, architectural models, metal parts, and sand casting molds.

BJ - 316L Stainless Steel is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel fabricated via Binder Jetting (BJ) 3D printing, with the grade 022Cr17Ni12Mo2 (S31603). It contains 16–18% Cr, 10–14% Ni, 2–3% Mo, and ≤0.03% C. Key features: high corrosion resistance (excellent resistance to pitting/crevice corrosion in chloride environments like seawater); high strength & toughness (tensile strength ≥485 MPa, yield strength ≥170 MPa, elongation ≥40%); no support structures needed (loose powder acts as natural support); smooth surface (Ra 4.0–8.0 μm); cost-effective (5–10x faster than SLM, lower equipment cost); good weldability & biocompatibility. Post-processing (sintering/HIP) enhances density. Ideal for functional components, industrial parts, medical implants, marine/chemical equipment, piping, and lightweight structures.
